EVENTS

The Ultimate Web Challenge

  • Description

    Event will test participants on three grounds: web design, web scripting and back-end knowledge. Each of the three tests will have a weightage depending on the difficulty level of the test. Hence the event will favour people who have knowledge on all 3 disciplines rather than a participant who is proficient on only one or two of the challenges. For web design, participants will be given an objective to accomplish using HTML and CSS with the freedom of using their own creativity. Participants will be judged for their proficiency with the languages involved, as well as User Experience and usability of the overall result. For web scripting, participants will be given objectives to complete in a given web page using JavaScript. Participants will be judged on whether they accomplish the objectives in the expected way or not. For testing Back-end knowledge, participants will be tested on their knowledge of MySQL and PHP.

  • Rules and Regulations

    1. A team of maximum three (3) members is allowed.
    2. The participants will be asked to develop a website on a given theme.
    3. The theme for the event will be provided on the spot. However, list of expected features will be provided before the event.
    4. The event expects the end–product to be responsive and interactive with input validation.
    5. The scheduled time for the event will remain the same for everyone. It is advised that the participants arrive on time at the venue.
    6. The participants may make use of libraries (like, bootstrap/materialize, etc) during the event. Making web animations, slideshows, and responsiveness to various screen sizes is encouraged.
    7. Winners will be decided on their creativity, use of tools, methodology opted to solve a problem, features added, etc.
    8. Unfair use of the internet connection provided will result in direct disqualification.
